Doctor of Pharmacy (PHARM D.)
The PHARM D. is a six year course after 10+2 or Diploma in Pharmacy (or 3 years after B. PHARM - called as PHARM D. Post Baccalaureate) was started in August 2008 and includes five years of clinical and community-based theory, with ward rounds and one-year internship in hospitals.
As the world is moving forward in the pharmaceutical care sector and the pharmacist is at the interface between research and development, manufacturer, prescriber, patient and the medicine, the basic objectives of PHARM D. is to produce trained manpower for :Collaborating with other health care professionals for safe and effective pharmaceutical care
- Disease management
- Pharmacoeconomics (effective and cost efficient care).
- Tracking ADR (Adverse Drug Reactions).
- patient counselling.
- Regulatory offairs
- Monitoring patient outcome, etc.
Duration Of the Course: Six Years or 3 years after B. PHARM
The period of six years duration is divided into two phases:
Phase I
Consisting of First, Second, Third, Fourth and Fifth academic year with each academic year spread over a period of not less than two hundred working days.
Phase II
Consisting of internship or residency training during sixth year involving posting in specially units. It is a phase of training where in a student is exposed to actual pharmacy practice or clinical pharmacy services and acquires skill under supervision so that he or she may become capable of functioning independently
Intake: 30 students
Medium of Instruction: Medium of Instruction and Examination Shall be English.
Attendance and Progres
A candidate is required to put in at least 80% attendance in theory and practical subjects separately in a recognized institution approved by Pharmacy council of India and affiliated to Rajiv Gandhi University of Health Sciences, Karnataka. The candidate shall complete prescribed course satisfactorily to be eligible to appear for the respective examination.
Examination:
There shall be three sessional examinations conducted for both theory and practicals by the college for 30 Marks. The average marks of best two examinations for theory and practicals shall be computed separately. University shall conduct Final Examination for theory and practical for 70 Marks

Curriculum - Sixth Year PHARM D.
Internship or residency training including postings in speciality units. Students should independently provide the clinical pharmacy services to the alloted wards.
- Six months in general medicine department
- Two months each in three other speciality departments
* Attending ward rounds on daily basis.
Results : Student shall secure a minimum of 50% marks to pass (which is also a second class), minimum of 60% marks for first class, and minimum of 75% marks for distinction.
